The Black Experience in Art
The Black Experience is often explored in various art forms. This lecture, presented by visual arts professor Michael Booker, gives insight into how contemporary artists have told the stories of the Black Experience and illuminated important issues in America and around the world through their art.

Open Studio Day
Visit the arts studios in the Cafritz Foundation Arts Center and participate in activities and contests! Try your hand at modeling with clay, making molds, or get your studio passport stamped in different studios throughout the building. It's an opportunity to learn more about the arts at Montgomery College.

The Blair Witch Project, Film Screening and Discussion with the Director
MC Alum Eduardo Sanchez will join us for a screening of his first feature film, The Blair Witch Project (1999). The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director and reception.

Spring Semester Internship Application Deadline
Montgomery College Arts Institute partners with BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown, VisArts - Metropolitan Center for the Visual Arts in Rockville, and the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County in Silver Spring to provide internships to qualified MC students. To qualify as a candidate you must have at least a 3.2 GPA, completed 15 art related credits, and be currently enrolled at Montgomery College. Do you eat, breathe, and sleep art? The School of Art + Design (SA+D) is for you. This program provides first-year students with a cohort experience that mirrors the first year at an art school. In their second year students focus their studies on studio art or graphic design and prepare for transfer to premier art colleges. Do you love to perform? Do you appreciate watching theater or listening to music? Get started here! The performing arts area includes the disciplines of dance, film, music, and theater. Students may select from diverse offerings in both practical and appreciation courses in these disciplines.
