Boys to Men/Sister 2 Sister Mentoring Program Montgomery College

The December 2013 Montgomery College Task Force report on closing the Achievement Gap cited clear evidence of a disparity in performance between African Americans and their college peers.  Data on graduation rates and academic performance underscore the need for a strong program of support for the Black student population.

The Boys To Men and Sister 2 Sister Mentoring Program provides much needed support to men and women who are enrolled as first time college students.  As a part of this program, students gain personalized assistance and access to resources while being surrounded by other motivated and focused students.

Additionally, students who participate are provided with a Montgomery College faculty mentor who works with them throughout the academic year.  The faculty mentor provides the much needed guidance and support necessary to navigate a college environment.  Students are encouraged to utilize their mentors and actively participate in workshops and activities scheduled throughout the year. By actively participating, students can benefit from vast learning opportunities.

We believe that each student is filled with great potential and our goal is to do everything we can to help students excel at Montgomery College.
