Q. This is my first time at Montgomery College, can I register on the web?

A. Yes you may, but only if you pay with a credit card, however some exceptions apply:

You should not register via the web if you:
a). Have a tuition waiver. Examples: senior citizen, disability or National Guard.

b). Are under 16 years of age. To register you must first get permission to take the class by contacting the Program Director associated with the class you wish to take.

c). Are applying for any of the following WD&CE classes:
English As A Second Language
ESOL 
Pathways to Success

Q. Is there a deadline for registering for a class?

A. You have to be registered by the time class starts or before the class is full. Registrations are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Q. After I register for a course, can I transfer from one CRN# to another?

A. To transfer from one CRN# to another, you must submit the request in writing to any campus location before the beginning date of both courses.

Q. How do I pay for classes?

A. Montgomery College accepts Visa, Master Card, Discover, Personal Check and Money Orders. *Cash payments may only be accepted at a Cashier's office on the Germantown, Rockville, or Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus.

Q. Can I register to save a seat and pay later?

A. No, payment must be made at the time of registration. *There are some exceptions for certain Health Sciences Institute programs, see the Health Sciences Institute FAQs page for details on payment plans.

Q. Are scholarships or financial aid available?

A. Workforce Development & Continuing Education programs are non-credit courses and do not qualify for federal student loans. Pending available funding, WD&CE may have a limited number of career related scholarship opportunitites available. See WD&CE Scholarships for information about possible scholarships and the deadline for applying.

Q. Can I pay by the installment plan?

A. Courses marked with a ▲ have a tuition installment plan available: pay a down payment at time of registration, then pay the balance in one or two payments (your choice) before the class ends. There is a nonrefundable fee to participate in the payment plan. Students desiring to use the payment plan must register online. For more information, please call 240-567-5000.

Q. Can I get a tuition waiver?

A. Only noncredit courses designated "tuition waiver applies" will be available for tuition waiver. This statement appears in each applicable course description. To be eligible you must be a resident of Maryland, and at least 60 years old, or retired and disabled as defined by the Social Security or the Railroad Retirement Act. If you are disabled visit Tuition Waiver for Disabled Students for further instructions and guidelines.

If you are currently a member of the Maryland National Guard and are enlisted for at least a 24 month peroid, you are eligible for a 50% tuition waiver. You must submit proof of such from the adjutant general's office. Only tuition is waived; required fees must be paid by the student.

Q. If I withdraw from a class, will I get a refund?

 A. If you wish to drop a class, you can drop the class through MYMC prior to the class start date, or by completing a  Drop Form and submitting it by mail or fax as indicated on the form. Or you may submit the form at any WD&CE Customer Service location.  Drop forms for one-day classes must be received in WD&CE prior to the class start date. Refunds will be paid at 100% for courses administratively cancelled or dropped on or before the Refund Date printed on your registration confirmation. Refunds for open-enrollment classes will go to the registered student of record. Note: Youth Programs, Ed2Go Online, or ESL Courses have special withdrawal/drop policies. Visit www.montgomerycollege.edu/wdce/register/refundpolicy.html for additional instructions.  

Q. If a course is cancelled, will I get a refund?

A. A one-hundred percent refund of tuition and fees is granted if a course is administratively cancelled.

Q. What happens if it snows?

Q. Do I need a parking permit?

A. Students parking a vehicle on any campus of the College while attending a program or class lasting less than 30 days will receive a temporary parking permit with their class confirmation materials. If you register via the web your printed confirmation or registration history will serve as a parking permit until you receive the WD&CE Student Temporary Parking Permit. To obtain a temporary parking permit, call 240-567-5188, or stop by any WD&CE Customer Service location. This parking permit will enable students to park in designated student parking areas on campus.

Students attending a program or class lasting longer than 30 days must obtain a student parking permit. The parking permit/ hang tag is free to students. In order to obtain the permit and register their vehicle, students need to log into MYMC, click on the “Order MY Parking Permit” link on the “My MC Quick Links” tab. Permits normally arrive in five business days after order is placed. Please note that if the tag is lost there is a charge of $10 for a replacement.

Q. Can you get into a class that has already started?

A. Only with the approval of the Program Director.

Q. What should I do if I have a disability?

A. If you need support services due to a disability, please follow these steps:
1. Register for a class.
2. Call 240-567-5266 or e-mail us at natalie.martinez@montgomerycollege.edu at least four weeks prior to the start of class to arrange for accommodations and/or assistive technology.
If this procedure is not followed, services may be delayed.

Q. Do I have to use my Social Security Number (SSN)?

A. No, use your Montgomery College ID number which starts with M2.... If you do not have one, the College will assign one to you.

Q. How can I get my GED?

A. The GED program, formerly part of Montgomery County Public Schools, is now part of Montgomery College, visit the GED website http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/wdce/aelg/ged.htm for more information.
