Sustainability Practitioner, Distance Learning Courses:

Introduction To Environmental and Social Sustainability, MGT348
This class introduces basic concepts and frameworks of sustainability to provide you with a solid understanding of how sustainability works, why it is important, and how to use sustainability as a lens for good business strategy. You will participate in weekly online classes, with reading and writing assignments between class meetings. Topics covered include creating a sustainability plan, employee engagement, energy and climate change, and sustainability reporting and communication. Students registered for this class are required to have a headset with microphone.

Eco-Labels and Certifications MGT383
Organizations label their products and their businesses with more than 800 different "green" labels and certifications. Unfortunately, many of them are unreliable and not trustworthy. Learn how to distinguish between a good and bad eco-label, and how these certifications can be used to improve a product's branding. Students registered for this class are required to have a headset with microphone.

Role of Social Media in Sustainability MGT384
How do blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and other social media tools contribute to an organization's environmental and social sustainability commitment? How does the internet change the way we approach stakeholder and employee engagement? We'll examine the pros and cons of social media as a tool for sustainability through case studies and real life examples. Students registered for this class are required to have a headset with microphone.

Rules of Green Marketing MGT382
It seems like everyone is trying to be "green" these days. A recent study showed that more than 97 percent of all green claims are vague, misleading, or an outright lie. This class will go over the basics of green marketing, the seven "sins" of greenwashing, and how to navigate the treacherous world of green communications. Students registered for this class are required to have a headset with microphone.
