What are Green Business Forums?
The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection and Montgomery College have partnered to create a Green Business Forum (GBF).
Due to limited seating, registration is required. Visit Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce for information on how to register for the forums.
Taking place from 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM, 4 times a year in the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce boardroom , each forum will feature experts who offer unique perspectives on the advantages of being a green business. Panels will be moderated by Montgomery College faculty. Presentations will be followed by Q&A. Montgomery College will offer “how-to” webinars to supplement the forums. Montgomery County Green Business Certification Program:
Crash Course on How to Become a Green Certified Business
Position your company to be among the first to get certified in Montgomery County’s new Green Business Certification Program, a voluntary program designed to help businesses go above and beyond basic green measures to reduce ecological footprint. This course will focus on the fundamentals associated with implementation of day to day business operations and policies covering: 1) Organizational Commitment, 2) Waste Reduction & Recycling, 3) Environmentally Responsible Purchasing, 4) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, 5) Efficient Runoff Management and Water Use, 6) Pollution Prevention and 7) Transportation and Travel. The course will also outline green business opportunities, benefits, and strategies for leading environmental change within your organization.
Montgomery College's Rockville Campus Science Center
As part of MC's Green Routine, the new Rockville Campus Science Center is being submitted for Gold certification under the S.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. The new high energy performance Science Center is expected to save approximately 39% per year in energy costs over traditional code-compliant buildings.
