Going Green with Green Training
Science East and the Koi pond Rockville Campus

Montgomery College's Workforce Development & Continuing Education is pleased to offer a variety of Green Energy  courses for business and homeowners, Green Business Certification for local businesses, and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (L.E.E.D.) for LEED Associates and APs.

MC Green Home

Montgomery College has been a leader in resource conservation, environmental action and sustainability since the first “energy crisis” of the 1970s and has historically integrated renewable solar and wind energy into its building programs. All new buildings such as the Rockville Campus Science Center, currently under construction, and the Germantown Biosciences Center, currently under design, will receive a Gold LEED Certification. We are particularly proud of this accomplishment since these buildings are teaching laboratory facilities with inherent high ventilation loads, which pose engineering design and operational challenges in order to minimize energy consumption.

Montgomery College's Rockville Campus Science Center

As part of MC's Green Routine, the new Rockville Campus Science Center is being submitted for Gold certification under the S.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. The new high energy performance Science Center is expected to save approximately 39% per year in energy costs over traditional code-compliant buildings.
