Q: What are the AP Institute dates for 2018?

A: June 26, 2018 through June 29, 2018.

Q: What are the hours of the AP Summer Institute?

A: The program is from Tuesday - Friday| 8:30am - 5:00pm | 4 sessions | 30 hours

Q: How can I register?

A: All participants MUST Pre-Register for the AP Summer Institute at Montgomery College. APSI Pre-Registration Form. This will allow us to reserve a seat for you. Participants will be sent registration instructions at that time.

Q: If I live outside of Maryland, but work in Maryland do I have to pay the out of state fee?

A: If your employer will complete and sign the Business and Industry Agreement, the out of state fee will be waived. You must present the completed, signed B & I Agreement along with your registration form at the time of registration.

Q: What happens if I cannot attend for some reason? Do I get a refund?

A: Refunds will be paid at 100% for courses administratively canceled or dropped on or before the Refund Date printed on your registration confirmation. For further information and specific details visit Refund Policy.

Q: May I receive a refund if I am a "no show" at the AP Institute?

Q: How do I know if I am registered?

A: You should receive a confirmation from Montgomery College within two business days of receipt of your registration. If you have not received one, please call us at 240-567-5188. Please do not assume that you are registered if you have not heard from us officially.

Q: Where are the APSI classes held?

A: There are two locations this summer. Classes are held at Montgomery College's Rockville Campus ( see map) or the Germantown Campus ( see map)

Q: May I drive every day to the Institute?

A: If you are local, you may drive daily to the Institute. You should receive a parking permit along with your confirmation from Montgomery College prior to the Institute. If you have not received one, please call us at 240-567-5188. If you are coming from a distance, airport and hotel information is provided below.

Q: What hotels are in the Gaithersburg or Rockville,Maryland area?

A: The Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center, located at 9751 Washingtonian Boulevard, Gaithersburg, MD  20878-5359, (301) 590-0044. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Germantown, MD is also close to the APSI.  We will update you on additional Hotel arrangements once you pre-register. Additionally,you may find local area hotels at:

Q: How do I get to the Montgomery College, Germantown Campus?

Q: How do I get to the Montgomery College, Rockville Campus ?

Q: What should I wear?

A: There is no dress code for the Institute. Weather in Maryland tends to be hot and humid during this time of the year. Past participants have suggested bringing a sweater for air-conditioned classrooms. Note: If you are taking a science class with a lab, you must wear closed toe shoes in the lab.

Q: What should I bring?

A: Most instructors ask that you bring copies of a lesson plan to share. A laptop is not required but many feel it is good to bring one to open documents and to use email. Campus locations have open WI-FI connection.

Q: Will lunch be provided?

A: Lunch will be provided. Please note that no food or drink is allowed in computer classrooms or labs.

Q: Is it permissible to leave for home early on the last day?

A: We ask that you don't. Thirty hours are required by the College Board®. Montgomery College will issue a Certificate of Completion upon completion of the entire course.
