Special Collections (Archives)
The Montgomery College Libraries/Special Collections office exists to collect, preserve, and provide access to materials and memorabilia related to the history, function, and activities of Montgomery College. To do this, the Special Collections librarian solicits materials from the College community and the public that have historical value; preserves and organizes materials for research, study, and education; and provides finding aids and guides to access the materials in the collection.
The collection includes documents and memorabilia related to the early and evolving history of the College, as well as College catalogs, student newspapers, Bliss School records, faculty, staff, and student publications, newspaper clippings, historical photographs, and much more. The Libraries/Special Collections office utilizes an offsite storage facility to house its permanent collection. Select materials, including photographs and students newspapers, have been digitized and are available online.
Non-restricted materials from the permanent collection are easily available for reference and research purposes to the College community and to the public, upon request. Research is by appointment only so please contact the Libraries/Special Collections office to schedule the date and time. You may contact Shelly Jablonski, Librarian, by e-mail or phone at 240-567-7174.
