Afghan-American Author Draws Crowd
Our multicultural campuses continue to draw writers from diverse backgrounds to engage with students and faculty. Nadia Hashimi's discussion of her novel The Pearl That Broke Its Shell this week on the Germantown Campus drew a crowd of 400 avid readers. Exploring themes of gender, cultural inheritance, and Afghanistan’s judicial system, the story is a vibrant window into a nation where the US has been at war for over a decade. The author answered a wide variety of questions that touched on the education of women, history, and sociology, and signed books following her presentation.
