Requests from area middle and high schools for library instruction in support of academic research projects can be accommodated at all three of Montgomery College's campus libraries.

Note: Before you submit the instruction request form, please read Montgomery College's Policy on Minors on the Protection of Minors website and contact the youth protection coordinator at 240-567-4279 with any questions.

To request a library instruction session at any of the three campuses, please fill out our online request form at least one month in advance of the date: Request for Montgomery County Public Schools Visit to the Montgomery College Library.

Library Resources at Montgomery College

The Montgomery College Library can provide a library instruction session focused on undergraduate-level research resources, including databases and print collections. An instruction session at the Montgomery College Library should not be the first, nor the primary, library instruction session for your students. Please work with your school library media specialist before requesting a session at Montgomery College.

  • Community Borrower Cards: High school students must have a community borrower card in order to use library resources on-campus. MCPS students must come in person to the MC Library at least two weeks prior to their library session to apply for the community borrower card. A parent or guardian must accompany students under the age of 18. Community borrower cards are valid for a semester. At the end of a semester, cardholders must bring the card in to the library for address verification. Community borrower cards cannot be renewed over the phone.
  • MC Library Catalog : Anyone is able to access the MC Library Catalog online. In order to check books out of any campus library, students must have community borrower cards. As community patrons, students are allowed to check out up to five circulating items at a time.
  • A-Z List of Databases : This link provides access to a complete list of our databases, with descriptions of their coverage. MCPS students can only access these databases if they are on one of the three campuses. We cannot provide them with passwords for off-campus access.
  • RaptorSearch : RaptorSearch allows users to search multiple databases and the MC Library Catalog from a single search box. Results may include articles for scholarly journals, magazines, newspapers, books, e-books, videos, and other media. MCPS students can view a list of results from on or off-campus, but can only access content (e.g., articles, e-books) from a College computer. We cannot provide them with passwords for off-campus access.
