Easy Steps to Enroll

1. Apply for Admissions

You are eligible to attend Montgomery College if:

• You have earned a high school diploma or passed the official General Education Development (GED) examination or
• You meet the early placement requirements
• Others may also, under certain circumstances, be considered for admissions.  For more information, see Admissions to Montgomery College (Word - 56 KB) under Montgomery College Policies and Procedures.

How do I  apply?

• Apply online or apply on paper (PDF - 425 KB)
  
• The paper application is required for:
  • Students under 18
  • International Students requesting an I-20/F-1 Student Visa from Montgomery College

Do I need to apply if I’ve enrolled at MC before?

Returning MC students do not need to complete the Admissions Application. If you have previously applied to Montgomery College, call 240-567-5000 to update your record.

2. Apply for Financial Aid

If you know that you will be applying for financial aid, you should complete the required forms as early as possible.

Plan ahead: The priority deadline to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is in February for the following fall!

E-mail the Financial Aid Office or call 240-567-5100 for further details.

3. Take the Academic Assessment Test

Taking the College Placement Test

• Why?
  Your scores will help counselors and academic advisors recommend appropriate courses for you.
• Where?
  Each campus has its own testing center.
• When?
  Contact the testing center on the campus you will be attending to schedule a date and time for you to come in and take the tests.
• You may be exempt from testing
  Find out if you meet the qualifications to bypass the assessments tests. If you are exempt from testing, you should contact the Assessment Center at your campus.

4. Meet with a Counselor

Once you’ve completed your testing, you’ll need to complete an advising program.

By participating in this program, you will:

• Learn how to navigate the College Catalog in order to understand the steps you need to reach your goal
• Identify appropraite courses for your first semester
• Understand your placement results

New students who have already earned a degree through another institution, those designated as “personal interest”, and visiting students from other colleges are encouraged, but not required, to attend an advising program.

5. Register and Pay for classes

Once you’ve selected your courses, register and pay online.
