International & Multicultural Student Center, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus

In 1999, Montgomery College created the center within the counseling department of each campus to develop and coordinate programs and services for its increasing international and multicultural student population. With more than one third of its students being non-US citizens, the Takoma Park /Silver Spring campus serves the most diverse student body of the college.

Global Connections

Created in 2001 by Dr. Harold Barber, Global Connections provides a platform to address the social, academic and cultural interests of multicultural students and to celebrate diversity at the college.


International Buddy Program

The International Buddy Program is a college-wide program that is designed to provide a mentoring relationship between current international students and Montgomery College alumni.

African Heritage Month Program: "African Diaspora Heritage Talk Series"

The Smithsonian African Art Museum invites the Montgomery College community to join them for this special program.

“Docent-led tours of the museum’s exhibitions will kick off the evening. Afterwards, we will have a screening of Homecoming, a documentary following young adults Hanah and Natty as they travel from Toronto to their ancestral homeland of Ethiopia for the very first time. Finally, film producer Tomas Kanene, members of sponsoring group MidTown416, and elders from the Ethiopian community will share lessons learned and thoughts on cultural heritage preservation!”
