Before You Register

1. Check the Permission and Prerequisites.

Nearly every credit course at Montgomery College has one or more prerequisites. Prerequisites can include:

  • Test scores
  • Proof of successful completion of a required class
  • A signed statement declaring that you hold an associate’s degree or higher from an accredited U.S. institution

2. Talk with a counselor or advisor.

Contact a counselor or advisor before attempting registration. Counselors are available on a walk-in basis.

Counselors and Advisors can:

  • Check your record to determine if you’ve completed the requirements
  • Assign electronic approval codes which will permit online registration

Before the first day of classes

Register OnlineSkip the lines by registering for your classes online:

  • Available 24/7
  • Payment in full can be made by credit card when you register.
  • Register online until midnight the day before a class begins.
How to Register Online
  1. Go to the MyMC Portal.
  2. New users, click “Find Your MyMC ID” and follow the instructions. Returning users, enter your username and password to login.
  3. Click Quick Links on the My MC Home, then click on Registration.
  4. Choose Register or Add/Drop Classes. Select a Term, click Submit, then scroll down the page.
  5. Type the CRNs of your desired classes in the boxes. For classes with labs & lectures, enter the CRN for each.
  6. Click Submit Changes.
  7. Ensure that there are no errors and room is available in your classes. If there is an error message, contact the Office of Admissions & Records at 240-567-5000.
  8. Save your registration by clicking on Complete Registration.
  9. You can pay your tuition online (we accept all credit cards) via the payment section at the bottom of the screen
  10. Click "Student Detail Schedule" to print your schedule.

On or after the first day of classes Students who register the first day of classes or later must do so in person and pay a $35 Late Registration Fee.
