1. Attend a Health Sciences Information Session
Attend an Information Session for your area of interest to understand the nature of the program, the admission process and the rigor and time commitments needed to be successful. Times and dates for information sessions and program specific information can be found at montgomerycollege.edu/healthsciences. (At the website, be sure to click the individual program links for program specific information.)
2. Apply to Montgomery College
If you haven’t already applied to Montgomery College, submit a Montgomery College Admissions Application. If applicable, submit official copies of prior learning: college, military, and Excelsior College Exam transcripts; results from international transcript evaluation services; and AP, IB, CLEP, DSST or DANTES test scores to the Office of Admissions and Records for review. NOTE: If you attended Montgomery College, DO NOT include a transcript from Montgomery College. One will be generated when you submit your Health Sciences Application. A transcript evaluation will help you to ensure that you do not duplicate coursework. Review the requirements for each program.
3. Prepare for the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)
Students applying to Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Surgical Technology, Physical Therapist Assistant, or Polysomnography are strongly encouraged to prepare for TEAS. Plan to attend a TEAS information session to understand how TEAS is used in the application process, to connect with available resources, and to learn how to best prepare for the exam. For more information about TEAS, visit www.montgomerycollege.edu/teas.
4. See a Counselor
If you need help creating an academic plan, meet with a Montgomery College counselor in the Office of Counseling and Advising. Be sure to complete steps 1-3 first!
5. Register to take the TEAS
After studying for the TEAS, register to take the exam at the Assessment Technologies Institute website: www.atitesting.com. For more information about registering for the TEAS and MC's Assessment Centers' testing policies and procedures, visit http://cms.montgomerycollege.edu/edu/plain.aspx?id=20981.
