The English Department is home to a diverse and active faculty. This knowledgeable and talented department teaches many styles and levels of writing and literature. Montgomery College English courses are designed to help students develop their critical thinking skills, advance their reading and writing abilities, and strengthen their verbal and written communication skills in college, career and life. In addition, students can improve their grammatical or vocabulary skills.
Outside the classroom, the English Department also provides multiple opportunities for student involvement. Students can share their unique voices by contributing to The Red Jacket (a student creative writing journal), The Potomac Review (a professional, literary journal), and The Advocate (the campus student newspaper). Plus, we reward excellent student writers and offer exciting events for students.
|All our events post to facebook. Find us there!||Although the Montgomery Advocate, the campus' student-run news site, is officially part of the Office of Student Life, the English Department supports it with faculty advisors and journalism courses.|
