Supporting Students. Developing Leaders.

Students in the Hillman Entrepreneurs Program benefit greatly from visits from experienced business people, government representatives, and other professionals who can guide and provide tips and stories to inspire and motivate students to think big and to be innovative in their thinking and planning.

Background on Our Speaker Series

An integral part of the Hillman Entrepreneurs Program has always been connecting our students to the movers and shakers in our community and the experts who support aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners.  In addition to entrepreneurs from a variety of industries, we have included Federal and local government representatives; professionals such as lawyers and coaches; representatives from community organizations like the Chambers of Commerce, Lions Club, etc.; and many others as well.

Who, What, Where, and When

Our seminar meets during the school year on Friday afternoons from 1:30 – 3:30 and most of our speakers are scheduled to attend this seminar at this time. On occasion, we have also been able to schedule meet-and-greet events at other times as well.

While most speakers come to speak to the students in the Hillman Program at Montgomery College-Germantown, it is also possible to schedule events and presentations that reach a broader audience—either the MC student body at large or the Hillman students at other institutions as well. We are open to exploring all options!

How to Get Started

If you think you would like to visit with our Hillman students, the first step to take is to reach out to the Program Director, Rebecca Razavi, Hillman Entrepreneurs Program Director:  Tel: 240-567-2019. E-mail;

During our initial conversation, we will discuss the following:

  1. What you can bring to the students that is in alignment with the program mission and objectives.
  2. The course schedule and objectives that best match your area of expertise. There is a deliberate progression of topics students explore that needs to align with our speaker series.
  3. Ways that we can extend the experience beyond a one-time event. This may include exploring opportunities for internships or mentorships, other partnerships with Montgomery College, or ideas you may have for a future partnership with the Hillman Program.

Once we have a plan, we will provide you with everything you need to make your visit successful. We can brainstorm with you on the best way to present your experience and knowledge, provide helpful information to the students ahead of time, make copies of handouts, etc. The secret to a successful visit to our program is thoughtful planning and preparation—and making sure that you are comfortable with the plan!

I hope you will consider reaching out to meet our wonderful students. Previous speakers rave that the experience is uplifting and inspiring to them as well—and many have become permanent partners of our Program!
