October 25, 2011 - Message to Students

On Monday night, October 24, the College trustees endorsed a statement that celebrates the College's diversity and, at the same time, takes a stand against harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) students, faculty, or staff.

Recent national attention on the problem of bullying and prejudices against LGBT students inspired a group of Montgomery College faculty and staff to form MCPride to raise awareness and to educate the College community. MCPride collaborated on the development of "Making It Better," a College statement that supports an inclusive learning environment for all students. Working with MCPride, Dr. Pollard is releasing the statement in honor of LGBT History Month.

This video is an important statement to make, reminding the entire MC community that diversity is not just about ethnicity, and that our campuses should be safe (physically and emotionally) for all who study and work here. Thanks!
