In her latest video blog to Montgomery College students, Dr. Pollard is joined outside the Mannakee building under a beautiful springtime sun by three members of the women’s basketball team. She chats about the season that ended recently with the Lady Knights finishing fourth nationally. She also has some business to discuss including a preview of her first ever “Virtual State of the College” address and the long-awaited announcement of the college’s new mascot!

The results are in! In her latest video blog to the Montgomery College community, Dr. DeRionne Pollard, president, shares the news about our new collegewide colors and mascot with you.

More than 2,200 students, faculty, staff, and alumni participated in the voting process, with the winning colors receiving nearly 45 percent of the vote. Hundreds of votes separated the top choice from the second choice.

While we have our new colors, there is still work to complete with regard to the mascot selection. The vote was too close to call—less than 50 votes separate the top two choices! Therefore, I want you to vote one more time and help the College identify a clear winner. Please visit to participate in the new ballot. On the voting site, you will be prompted for your MyMC ID and password. Voting will continue through midnight, Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
