Financial Literacy Sessions For March 2015

Attendance at a Financial Literacy session is required for all students who anticipate borrowing from the federal loan programs (Federal Direct Loans and/or Federal Perkins Loans) if you are a new student at Montgomery College (MC) or if you are a first time borrower at MC.  Plan to attend one of the 90 minute sessions held on one of the three campus locations.   Please be on time.  The doors will close 5 minutes after the presentation is scheduled to start.  Funds will not disburse to the new borrower account unless this requirement is met.  Contact Disability Support Services if you need accommodations. View the March 2015  dates and locations (PDF 222 KB).

Scholarship Opportunity for Maryland Residents of District 17

Do you live in Maryland District 17?  (Parts of Rockville and Gaithersburg.)  Senator Cheryl C. Kagan is accepting scholarship applications for the spring semester.  Go to www.cherylkagan.org/scholarships/ to find out if you qualify and to download a scholarship application.  Financial need and completion of the 2014-2015 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are required for this state-funded scholarship.

Please join us for the various activities on the campus you attend so you can complete the 2015-2016 FAFSA.

See the flyer  attached regarding specific campus events and/or visit your financial aid representative for information and assistance. If you are completing the FAFSSA have your most recent tax information and wage statements with you, if possible.

Financial Aid Deadline for Spring 2015

The financial aid office has posted some helpful hints for you on how to obtain services for spring 2015(PDF 385 KB).  The priority deadline for spring is November 1, 2014. If you have completed all of your requested documents and your FAFSA was sent to MC by November 1, 2014, then you should expect to have an email notice from MC regarding your eligibility before you have to pay your spring bill.  A book credit may be available to buy books at MC Books and More if your financial aid award meets certain criteria. Also, if all requirements have been met for the aid you are eligible to receive, your classes can be held automatically.  If you have missed this November 1priority deadline please view the above link that describes our helpful hints on how to obtain services before the semester begins.
