Blackboard 9.1 SP11 Updates
The Office of Distance Education and Learning Technologies and the Office of Information Technology will be upgrading Blackboard to ServicePack 11. As a result, Blackboard will be offline beginning at 12:01 a.m. Friday, May 24 and will be back online by mid-afternoon that same day, the date of Montgomery College’s Commencement events. This upgrade is necessary to improve the functionality of the system and to provide faculty with additional teaching and learning features. Attached is a document that outlines these new features. This document will also be available in the Blackboard Learning Center within Blackboard.

Four Distance Education Courses Receive QM Recognition
Four Montgomery College distance education courses recently received Quality Matters recognition for course design. Acoustical Physics I (MS 102), Instructor: Leigh Giles-Brown; Seminar Diagnostic Medical Sonography (MS 224), Instructor: Linda Zanin; First Year Seminar (DS 107), Instructor: Sharon Petrillo; and Introduction to Human Communication (SP 108), Instructor: Nader Chaaban were successfully reviewed by external reviewers and found to meet QM standards.
The four courses brings to 18 the number of MC courses with QM recognition. Several other courses are currently in the review process. To see a list of MC courses that have gone through the QM review process, click on QM Recognized Courses under Quality Matters.
Training Montgomery College faculty to teach a distance education class is a systematic process. The link below will take you to the Training Map (you can also click on Training Map (PDF) under TRAINING). This training map and the notations outline the steps involved before faculty teach online or blended classes. The map also shows the relationship to Quality Matters training offered at MC.
