| ||Welcome to Math 115A. This is an online course. It is a unique opportunity for students to pass two mathematics courses in one semester. We joined MATH 093 (Intermediate Algebra) and MATH 115 (Mathematical Ideas) in one exciting course. |
The first five weeks will be solely dedicated to Intermediate Algebra. During the sixth week of the course Algebra Competency is administered. You must pass the competency exam with at least a “C” in order to proceed to the Mathematical Ideas portion of the class.
In the Mathematical Ideas portion of the class we will explore how mathematics fits within various facets of our society. Some of the topics we will study are: Logic and Critical Thinking, Mathematics of Voting, Probability, Statistics, and Geometry. We will spend just enough time with each topic to pique your interest, and then we will move on to the next topic.
This course is perfect for liberal arts and social studies majors.
