April 2013 Financial Literacy Sessions

Attendance at a Financial Literacy session is required for a Federal Direct Stafford Loan borrower if you are a new student at Montgomery College (MC) or if you are a first time borrower at MC.  You must attend a 90 minute financial literacy session at one of the three campus locations.  Please be on time. The doors will close 5 minutes after the presentation is scheduled to start. To be eligible for the loan you must be registered for your classes and you must maintain a minimum of 6 credits for the spring semester.

Please view the dates on the attached (Adobe PDF) form for the 90 minute session that is convenient for your schedule in April if you did not attend a previous session. Funds will not disburse to the new student borrower account unless this requirement is met. Please contact Disability Support Services if you need accommodations. Contact the financial aid office if you have questions.


Financial Aid Offices Closed on Monday, March 18, 2013

Update: The Office of Student Financial Aid on ALL three campuses will be CLOSED on Monday, March 18, 2013 for a start up training meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to update the financial aid  staff on the changes in federal, state and institutional policies, procedures and regulations for the upcoming 2013 - 2014 processing year.

The Office of Student Financial Aid on ALL three campuses will be open for business on Tuesday, Wedmesday and Thursday  from  8:30 am  to 5:00 pm.  The offices will be  closed  on Friday, March 22, 2013 for spring break.

SECU - University System of Maryland (USM) Scholarship

 The SECU-USM will award for 2013-14 a total of ten $5,000 scholarships to graduates of Maryland’s Community Colleges. These one - time awards will be based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need. Students must be transferring to one of the following USM –affiliated institutions: Bowie State University, Coppin State University, Frostburg State University , Salisbury State University, Towson State University, Universities of Shady Grove, University of Baltimore, University of Maryland, Baltimore, University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP), University of Maryland, Eastern Shore (UMES), University of Maryland University College (UMUC), and University System of Maryland at Hagerstown.

Rockville Scholarship Foundation is Now Accepting Applications from Rockville Residents

Each year the Rockville Scholarship Foundation, a not-for-profit charitable organization, provides scholarships to students who reside within the corporate limits of Rockville. Applicants must intend to enroll or continue to enroll in a college or university in fall 2013. Funds for scholarships come from donations from the general public, the City of Rockville, and Montgomery College. To learn more about the Rockville Scholarship Foundation, please visit:

An awards ceremony is held in June at a meeting of the Rockville Mayor and Council.
