Group Study Rooms Guidelines

Group Study Rooms are located at the campus library locations, except Cafritz Art Library. Students and part-time faculty may use the Group Study Rooms with a valid College ID for educational pursuits. Student use of the Group Study Rooms receives priority over faculty use. Group Study Rooms may be reserved in advance. The number of Group Study Rooms and their seat capacity vary at each campus library location.

  • Montgomery College students with a current MC ID Card take priority over other users.
  • Part-time faculty with a current MC ID card can utilize available rooms to consult privately with students.
  • The size of the group will be determined by the campus where the room is being reserved.

  • Group Study Rooms are available as walk-ins and through online reservations. For online reservations, visit our Reserve a Study Space page.
  • Reservations are on a first come, first served basis.
  • You must click the link in your confirmation email within 2 hours of submitting a request or your reservation will be canceled.
  • Reservations may be forfeited if the room isn’t occupied within 15 minutes of the reserved time.
  • Reservations are made for a maximum of 2 hours per day per group.
  • If the Group Study Room key is returned late, a fine of $2.00 per hour, maximum $8.00, will be charged.

  • Group members must be present before checking out the room key and being admitted to a Group Study Room.
  • Group size is limited to the number of seats available in each study room; additional chairs may not be moved into the room to accommodate additional group members.
  • One of the group members must present a current MC ID to check out a Group Study Room.
  • Group Study rooms must be occupied at all times by group members, with no personal belongings left unattended and conversations must not disturb other patrons in the library. Unattended belongings and disruptive conversations may result in removal by library staff or campus security.
  • Failure to adhere to the posted rules within the rooms and the policies described in the Student Code of Conduct (PDF - 131KB) may result in the loss of privileges.
