Universities at Shady Grove Transfer Agreements

USG CampusA 4-Year Roadmap to Your Bachelor’s Degree

Students earn their Associate’s Degree at Montgomery College (MC) and then transfer their credits to a Maryland university degree program offered at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) campus to complete their bachelor’s degree.

  • Reduces overall cost of obtaining a bachelor’s degree from a leading Maryland university
  • Small sizes and flexible course schedules
  • Campuses convenient to work and home in Montgomery County
  • Guaranteed admission opportunities and personalized attention
  • Graduates enter rewarding careers in our regions’ most high-demand fields, such as nursing, biological sciences, information technology, and education

Years 1 & 2: Montgomery College

After high-school, complete your first two years of study at MC. Work with your MC advisor to choose a major that suits you and your career goals. USG and MC coordinate advising to keep you on track to earn your associate’s degree and make a simple and stress-free transfer to a degree program at USG.

Years 3 & 4: The Universities at Shady Grove

After MC, transfer into one of Maryland’s leading universities who offer classes at the USG campus.  Students enroll in the university that offers the program they want, take their classes at USG, and earn their degree from their home university. The classes are the same as those taught on the main campus, and so are the professors.

TIPS FOR A SMOOTH TRANSITION TO USG FOR YOUR BACHELOR’S DEGREE

Stay on track for your transfer with these helpful tips developed by USG and Montgomery College.

1. Review the undergraduate programs offered at USG.

2. Meet with a program representative or recruiter on USG’s campus to discuss the pre-requisites and admissions requirements for your selected program. Check to see if the program you are interested in is part of the Transfer Access Programs at USG.

3. All programs at USG require approximately 60 credits or an associate’s degree. Work closely with your MC counselor to plan the most efficient way to reach this goal.

4. Attend a USG Open House to learn more information about your program of interest and to take a tour of the campus. Or see when USG is visiting MC.

5. Before applying to your program of choice, complete all prerequisites and general education requirements.  Make sure you have completed all application materials requested by the home institution’s admissions office. Verify your application is complete prior to the program’s application deadline.

6. Apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA by the institutional priority deadline as well as the March 1st state deadline. Also, please be sure to submit a General Scholarship Application for students attending USG.

7. Send a final transcript from MC to the home institution’s admissions office once all MC coursework has been completed.
