Montgomery College partners with the State Administration on Skills2Compete-Maryland, a major initiative aimed at increasing the skills and competitiveness of Maryland's workforce. Montgomery College offers many programs that prepare students for middle-skill jobs (those that require more than a high school diploma, but less than a four-year degree), which are the backbone of the state's economy, making up half of Maryland’s labor market.
Employee and Business Training
Workforce Development & Continuing Education has a wide array of open enrollment classes for county residents, business, and government agencies. WD&CE Open Enrollment Classes can provide employee and business training in many areas including Information Technology, Business, Technical Trades, and Health Sciences.
Does your business have a specialized training need? We also provide Customized Contract Training opportunities for area businesses. Most of the classes offered by WD&CE can be customized for specific business or government needs.

Macklin Business Institute
The Macklin Business Institute (MBI) at Montgomery College is a distinctive honors program that provides a wide range of innovative, high-quality business education opportunities. Sophomore honors students learn real world skills in business, accounting and finance. MBI provides them with business mentors and internship opportunities. Montgomery College Foundation
The Montgomery College Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization governed by business, alumni and community leaders to enhance the work of Montgomery College. It depends on private contributions from local businesses, foundations, community leaders, and alumni to create premier programs in the arts, humanities, business, and biotech areas which rival those among the country's elite colleges and universities. There are many traditional ways that business and alumni can contribute to and partner with Montgomery College. The Montgomery College Foundation, described above, organizes significant new initiatives for the College in a variety of areas. The College also has many Institutes and Partnerships, such as the Paul Peck Institute for American Culture and Civic Engagement, Macklin Business Institute, Gudelsky Institute for Technical Education, and the proposed new Bioscience Education Center in Germantown, which offer contribution and partnership opportunities to area businesses.
