Dear Parent and Family Member of Montgomery College Students:
Welcome to Montgomery College! We believe establishing a relationship with parents and family members is an important component of a successful college experience for Montgomery College (MC) students. We want to establish a collaborative spirit between you and Montgomery College for the common goals of student learning development and success. We value you as a partner in your student’s educational process.
Coming to college is a big step and we recognize the investment this requires as a student and as a parent or family member. Students often face challenges which may overwhelm or confuse them as they encounter periods of growth, self-reflection, and independence. Parents and family members can often make such obstacles easier to overcome. MC is committed to working with you so that your student will learn to access institutional resources independently.
Currently, the MC web site http://cms.montgomerycollege.edu/edu/ is designed to be your main source for information. The “Parent & Family” page is located from the home page by clicking on the "Unique Populations" tab. We are dedicated to serve as your medium for communication and to publish news and appropriate information on a timely basis. I want to ensure that you have the information to connect you to valuable notices, events, resources and services which facilitate your involvement in the life of your student. You can also friend Montgomery College on Facebook or follow us on Tweeter, YouTube, and among other social networks.
In the meantime, if you are unable to find what you are looking for, if you have questions or concerns, or if you need assistance in any way, please contact me in the Rockville Campus Counseling Department at 240-567-5063 and press #6 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope you will take advantage of the opportunities that await you and will continue to play an active role in your student's life in new ways.
Ever R.C. Grier, M.Ed.
