Choosing which schools to apply to takes time!

Make an appointment in MyMC - Starfish to meet with an MC counselor to discuss your list.

Use the web to dig deeply into each school's home page.

Pay particular attention to Transfer Admissions information - this is usually separate from Freshman Admissions information.  Read everything you can about the major(s) of interest to you.  If you're thinking about living on campus in a dorrm, look at On-Campus Housing pages.

TALK to people about the schools you're considering.

Get opinions from friends, relatives, counselors, professors, local employers, and people who have jobs in the field that interests you.  Don't let one opinion change your whole view, but gather ideas from many different people.

Attend Montgomery College's Transfer Information Days each semester on campus.

Meet with representatives from schools who can answer admissions and program questions. Choose at least three visiting schools to explore in depth.

Visit the colleges/universities that interest you.

Take a tour. Go to scheduled Open Houses and Information Sessions.  Many schools have tours that are specifically for transfer students.  Check for these opportunities on the Admissions Page.

  2. Campus Visit Checklist -The College Board

Use "virtual tours" on the web to supplement your visit and help you remember what you saw after you return from an in-person tour.  Some schools have them on their websites, for others, check out and
