Alternative Energy Park
Montgomery College is preparing for the training needs of the next generation of energy technicians with the development of an outdoor Alternative Energy Park. As an outdoor laboratory for solar, wind, and electric car technologies, the park will position MC as a leader in renewable and sustainable energy technology training. It has been designed to showcase continuing advances in energy technologies and the rapid changes that define the industry.
The park will offer students instruction for installation and service of the technologies in a realistic training environment and function as a community resource for the demonstration of alternative energy technology. The park will include several types of solar technologies including photovoltaic and thermal systems, both residential and commercial. A small wind turbine will introduce wind generator system technology, and an electric car that is charged by both solar and conventional electricity will be available. In addition, the park will help promote awareness of these systems and promote the benefits of a renewable and sustainable future.
