Welcome to the Rockville Art Department!
The Rockville Art Department offers Associate of Arts degrees in Art and Art History, as well as an Associate of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art. Within the department, we offer courses in drawing, design, color, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, jewelry and metalsmithing, and art history. Art majors receive a comprehensive education that emphasizes breadth and depth in the studio art and art history disciplines, and work closely with Art faculty advisors to develop portfolios to facilitate transfer to top four-year Art schools and universities.
In addition, we offer more than 20 courses in studio art and art history that fulfill the Arts Distribution requirement under the College’s General Education program. Studio art courses do not require an ENGL 101 assessment level, and are available to students currently in ENGL 001 and 002, as well as AELW courses.
The Rockville Art department has twelve full-time faculty members in studio art, who are professional working artists, and two full-time art historians. In addition, we have over twenty professional adjunct faculty members, with specialties in a range of fields. Studios and faculty offices are housed in the Paul Peck Art Building, and the Art Department office is located on the second floor in Room 201.
