Communication Studies

We offer an Associate of Arts degree in Communication Studies. Our experienced and well-qualified faculty prepare students to enter the marketplace as well-prepared and knowledgeable professionals in a variety of fields. We have transfer agreements with the Univ. of MD, College Park @ USG; Univ. of MD, University College; and West Virginia University. Our faculty are members of several nationally recognized organizations, including the National Communication Association, Eastern Communication Association, and the Maryland Communication Association.

Our program and courses provide a solid education in the most basic human communication social processes: the creation and dissemination of meaning and information. Our Communication Studies program provides students the opportunity to participate in research and internships that build upon their classroom experiences. Our curriculum allows students the flexibility to pursue an AA degree in Communication Studies and, at the same time, to fulfill the lower-level general education requirements for transfer to a baccalaureate degree program at many institutions. To determine appropriate coursework for specific transfer programs, students majoring in Communication Studies are strongly encouraged to seek guidance from their MC academic advisor and an academic advisor at the institution to which they intend to transfer.
