Overview

The Engineering, Physical and Computer Science Department of Montgomery College, Maryland is proud to host the 2018 Programming Competition. This event brings talented high school students from Washington metropolitan area to participate in a programming competition using the Java programming language. Each team will demonstrate its programming skills and problem-solving abilities by developing solutions to a number of programming problems. There is no cost to participate in the competition. The duration of the competition is 90 minutes. Java API documentation will be available for access on local computers. Teams will NOT be allowed to use books or other resources. Each team will be assigned with one computer. The registration deadline is April 2nd.

To register teams for a competition please email the following information to MCProgrammingCompetition@montgomerycollege.edu by April 2, 2018 

  • Coach Name/Chaperon Name (Coach or Chaperon should be school employee)
  • Coach email address/Chaperon email address
  • Total Number of teams (Maximum 8 teams, 2 students per team)
  • List of teams, team members and each team level. There are two levels: Introduction and Advanced

Competition information

System: IBM PC running Microsoft Windows

Compiler/Editor/IDE: TextPad, Eclipse, and JDK 1.8

Programming: Teams are expected to develop character-based (command line) programs. No GUI features will be needed.
