Student Support Services (SSS)
is a federally funded program through the U.S. Department of Education to provide free academic, career, financial, personal, social, and technological assistance and support to eligible college students. The purpose of the program is to increase retention, graduation, and transfer rates by providing and coordination various educational support services. We help eligible participants adjust to college life, achieve academic success, graduate, and move on to become contributing members of society.
Programs at a glance
The Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO) are Federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. Students enrolled in today's TRiO programs mirror our nation's multicultural and multiethnic society.
TRiO staff have an opportunity to work one-on-one with each student. TRiO professional get to know each student on a first name basis. TRiO staff are personally committed to the success of their students.
Like their students, many TRiO professional had to overcome class, social, and academic and cultural barriers to succedd in higher education. As a result, they can effectively relate to their students and know how to motivate young people and adults in spite of the obstacles that ofen discourage first generation students.
