Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
On January 14, 2013, the Montgomery College Board of Trustees passed a resolution concerning the tuition rates for students with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Temporary Protected Status (TPS). The College determined that DACA and TPS students are eligible for in-county tuition rates provided that the students satisfy the College’s residency criteria. This action is separate from the Maryland Dream Act.
If you believe this information may affect your tuition rate at the College, please bring a copy of your Federal Employment Authorization Card to one of our campus Admissions Offices. Your card must contain the appropriate reference code for DACA, which is (c)(33), or TPS, which is (a)(12). A Social Security card marked “employment authorized” is not sufficient documentation of your status. An Admissions representative will make a copy of your card and determine if you are eligible for a different tuition rate.
If your DACA or TPS status is expiring, please bring a copy of your documentation extending your status to one of our campus Admissions Offices so we may continue your current tuition rate.
If you are in the process of collecting your forms for the Maryland Dream Act, please continue to do so. If you submitted documents for consideration under the Maryland Dream Act, the Admissions Office is processing them, and you will receive notification once complete.
