Admission and Registration Procedures

Students must follow the steps below in order to take a college class through the Early Placement Program:
|Step One: ||Meet with your high school counselor, MCPS Dual Enrollment Program Assistant (DEPA) or home school provider to discuss your overall education plan to include your high school program of study and the college course(s) you wish to take. |
|Step Two: || |
Obtain the written approval of your college course plan on the completed Early Placement Approval Form from a parent (or guardian), high school counselor, and if necessary, the principal.
|Step Three: ||Submit an MC credit admissions application through the college’s online application system. MC will notify you with admissions verification and next steps. You will be provisionally admitted to MC, but must meet the Early Placement requirements in order to be eligible to register for college courses as a HS student. |

Contact an MC Academic Coordinator or the MCPS DEPA/counselor at your high school to submit the completed Early Placement Approval Form, your most recent official HS transcript and SAT or ACT results. Students without qualifying SAT or ACT scores must also schedule to take the College Board’s ACCUPLACER/ESL Assessment test through MC.
|Step Five: || |
Complete the MC Academic Orientation through a MAP, E-MAP or I -MAP session. Submit the certificate as proof of completion to an MC Academic Coordinator or MCPS DEPA/ counselor at your school. Click HERE to complete an E-MAP online or click HERE for info on the MAP or I-MAP in-person sessions.
|Step Six: ||Meet with an MC Academic Coordinator to discuss early placement program status including assessment results and registration options. MC Counselors are also available to help students select courses that will lead towards a degree and/or transfer to a four-year institution. |
|Step Seven: ||Submit an Early Placement Registration/ Schedule Change Form to a MC Academic Coordinator. Academic Coordinator will register as appropriate and notify you of your status. |
|Step Eight: ||Pay all required MC tuition and fees, in accordance with the college’s payment deadlines. |
All required documents must be received in the Early Placement Program office PRIOR to the start of the semester in order for a student to be approved to take a college course.
