Diagnostic Medical Sonography

DMS Accreditation

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program at Montgomery College meets and exceeds the required Standards and Guidelines for accreditation on all our specialty tracks: Abdominal Sonography, Ob/Gyn Sonography,  Adult Echocardiography, and Vascular Sonography.

  • The DMS program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS).

Program Goals

Montgomery College is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, and the Program of Diagnostic Medical Sonography is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP). 

The goal of the DMS Program is to:

  • To prepare competent entry-level adult cardiac sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains; and/or
  • To prepare competent entry-level abdominal sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains and/or
  • To prepare competent entry-level obstetric and gynecologic sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains and/or
  • To prepare competent entry-level vascular sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains
