The Office of Equity and Diversity established a College Diversity Plan Committee. The Committee is comprised of representatives from a broad cross-section of the College’s key stakeholders that include faculty, staff, administrators, students — some of whom are members of the Governance Councils. The committee members were appointed by each Senior Vice President, each Governance Council, and each campus and Workforce Development and Continuing Education Vice President/Provost. Dr. Eun-Woo Chang and Dr. Clarice Somersall are the committee co-chairs.
The committee is charged with updating the current College plan — Our College Roadmap for Ensuring and Sustaining Diversity and Inclusive Excellence and thematically aligning it with the MC 2020 Plan. The current plan is a multi-year action plan that has been implemented over the past three academic years, 2010 through 2012. On June 24, 2013, the updated multi-year action plan will be submitted to the Board of Trustees for approval; and as required the plan will be submitted to the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) by August 1, 2013.
For your information, the Maryland House Bill 905 and Senate Bill 438 Education Article, annotated code of Maryland, §11-406 (b)(1)(iii) requires all Maryland public and private colleges and universities to annually develop a diversity plan that has been approved by its trustee board. In compliance, Montgomery College submitted its plan to MHEC on July 7, 2009.
Information regarding the committee's meeting dates and progress will be available at this website. If you would like to communicate with or contact the committee, please send an email to
