The Student Services Center
The Charlene R. Nunley Student Services Center is located at the corner of Fenton Street and New York Avenue. It is a one stop services building for enrolling and returning students. In this one building, students have convenient access to Admissions and Records, Assessment and Testing, Counseling and Advising, Career and Educational Planning, Financial Aid, the Cashier and the bookstore. It is also home to several key administrative offices: the Office of the Vice President and Provost (ST 306), the Office of the Dean of Student Development (ST 232) and the Office of Student Life (ST 216). Also located in this 95,000 square foot facility are Security offices, the mailroom, the cafeteria, student and faculty/staff lounges, conference rooms, MC Copies, and important Student Activities areas for clubs, the newspaper, Student IDs, volunteers, and the Service Learning Program.
In addition, the Student Services Center offers the largest on-site computer and Internet lab at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. Computer labs for students to work on out-of-class assignments and web research are particularly critical for this campus where only one in five students has access to a home computer. This lab offers students increased opportunities and availability to current technology and software.
A Pedestrian Bridge links the east and west sides of campus. This bridge begins in the second floor atrium of the Student Services building, crosses over the CSX/Metro tracks, and continues into the northeast corner of Jessup Blair Park. It provides the necessary and safe connection between the two sides of campus. Without the bridge, students and faculty would be disconnected from their peers as well as necessary services and facilities such as:
