Restructuring of Student Services
UPDATE: Please click here for a progress report
The President charged the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Senior Vice President for Student Services to realign the academic affairs and student services’ divisions while honoring the unique strengths that thrive on each of our campuses and locations. This will allow Montgomery College to be stronger as a whole as we unite around our common purpose.
The goal of the restructuring processes is to embrace uniqueness and innovation while providing consistent, ideal service for our students. Both plans will blend consistency and uniqueness as they help meet a number of Montgomery College objectives including:
- Promotion of collegewide approaches;
- Academic renewal to respond to the increased use of outcome assessment data and the integration of planning and budgeting consistent with Middle State expectations;
- Resource reallocation;
- A rededication to the research into and incorporation of best practices in instruction to better assure student goal completion; and
- More deliberate and proactive integration between academic affairs and student services activities.
The new Student Services Division structure that moves the student development functions from a campus-reporting line into the new collegewide student services division takes effect July 1, 2012. A PowerPoint presentation discussing the changes can be obtained with this link: Student Services Restructuring Presentation.pdf.
The Academic Affairs Division is presently working toward a concept that promotes a common, consistent student experience with more opportunities for success.

Reinvigoration of Athletics
The "reinvigoration of athletics" was an exciting opportunity to shape a new program—a collegewide program—for our student-athletes. A collegewide approach was taken to allow students to play sports on any campus, and now only one College team is available for each sport. An active intramural program is being developed across all three campuses.
