Students have many opportunities to develop their writing, editing, and publishing experiences.
The Montgomery Advocate , advised by Steve Thurston, is the student-run
newspaper of the Montgomery College Rockville Campus. The newspaper
publishes seven or eight times per semester during the regular school year;
however, it does not publish during the summer.
The Potomac Review is a professional literary journal devoted to arts and
humanities. Students may contribute poetry, essays, fiction, and photos. In
addition, the Potomac Review with faculty advisor Jule Wakeman-Linn offers
credited internships (HP275PF) during which student participate in every
aspect of magazine production.
Creative writing students may also contribute to The Red Jacket. This
annual student-run arts and literary arts journal features Montgomery College
students’ work and is produced by Rockville’s Professional Writing faculty.
Students may submit short fiction, poetry, personal essay and artwork to
Jarvis Slacks. Plus students may join the editorial staff.
