Career Programs of Study

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Career Programs of Study?

Career Programs of Study are specific courses of study within a Career Cluster that identify pathways from secondary school to community colleges, universities, graduate schools, and the workplace, so students can learn in school what they could do in the future.  Students who focus on future goals are able to connect what they are learning in school to real-world applications.  This connection, or relevancy, helps students stay motivated because they are learning rigorous subject matter around a topic of interest with other students who share the same interest.

What are the benefits of the Career Programs of Study?

  • Students who are interested in what they are learning stay involved in their active learning and perform better.
  • Students who can answer the question “Why do I need to learn this?” are motivated to learn.
  • Students can get started on their college degrees through articulation agreements with Montgomery College.
  • Students have the opportunity to earn industry certifications in many areas.
