Academic Experience:

  • Collegewide Dean Science, Engineering and Technology, Montgomery College, Aug 2014-Present.
  • Professor and Chairman, Department of Physics, Engineering, and Geosciences at Montgomery College, 1983-2014 (Department Chair since 1999).
  • Taught wide variety of undergraduate courses such as: Introduction to Engineering Design, Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat transfer, Numerical Analysis, and Engineering Physics.
  • Created the Introduction to Engineering Design (ES100) course, which is a hands-on design course for the incoming freshmen. Co-authored a course manual / textbook for this course.
  • Conducted numerous presentations for local area high school students and science teachers during Engineering week as part of the recruitment and outreach for the engineering program.
  • Active member of ASME and ASEE conducted numerous presentations at the ASEE national and international meetings.
  • Academic director for the Johns Hopkins Engineering Advanced Summer University (Heads-up) program, 2002 - 2007.
  • Adjunct Professor (Senior Lecturer) Johns Hopkins University, Whiting School of Engineering,  2001 – Present.
  • Adjunct Professor GWU,  1996 – 2000
  • Conducted several Professional Engineering (PE) license review courses.
  • Currently serving a five year term as member of advisory board of Journal of Engineering Education (JEE) 2009 – 2014
  • Project team member in ASEE initiative to promote broad based discussions on the role and importance of engineering education within the society. Actively participated in development of the report entitled” Creating a Culture for Systematic and Scholarly Engineering Education Innovation” currently posted on the ASEE website
  • Served as program reviewer and degree accreditation team member for Civil, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Technology programs at a PSU satellite campus. This involved reviewing the course material and site visits.
  • Actively involved with Project Lead the Way (PLTW) national initiative. Served on advisory board. Serves as Judge for the PLTW senior capstone project, and advising MCPS schools with establishing a PLTW site.
  • Actively Participated in development of Maryland Associate of Science (ASE) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering sponsored by Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC). This involved development of course and curriculum outcomes and attending the executive committee meetings. 


Industrial Experience:

  • 1987-1995:   Senior Engineer, Que Associates Consulting Engineers, Rockville, MD.  Responsible for evaluation and cost analysis of the proposed projects. Preparation of construction documents and specifications.
  • 1978 - 1981:   Process Engineer, Iran Aircraft Industries, P .O. Box 12-4177 Tehran. Responsible for equipment design, Plant layouts, and design of waste treatment systems .
