8.3  Change which Templates are Available to a Folder

A folder may be configured so that each content block within it can use one of multiple templates.  One of the available templates must be marked as the default template for the folder.  When a new content block is added, it will use the default template (see section 8.4: Change Template Used by a Single Content Block for instructions on how to change the template for a specific content block).

PLEASE NOTE:  If you are using the department or department 2 template for your entire site, the only instance in which you may need to add a template to a folder is if you are building a Web form or adding a new subfolder for a photo gallery. 

To add a template to the list of available templates for a folder, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the name of the folder in Content view.

  2. Go to View -> Folder Properties.

  3. Click the Edit button to edit the folder properties.

  4. In the Page Templates section, uncheck the “Inherit parent template configuration” checkbox.

  5. Click “OK” in the “Are you sure you want to break inheritance?” dialog box.

  6. Select the template you wish to add from the drop-down menu.

  7. Click Add.

  8. Mark the radio button next to the template that should be the default template for the folder.

    PLEASE NOTE: To use the template you added for a single piece of content, without marking it as a default template, see section 8.4: Change Template Used by a Single Content Block.

  9. Click Save.
