Confluence Translation Conference returns to Montgomery College for Academic Year 2018-2019!

What is Confluence? Confluence is a celebration of translation and interpretation that brings together translators, interpreters, educators, students, and others interested in the field of translation, including its literary, practical, and philosophical dimensions.

Confluence features (1) an annual Open Mic celebration of International Translation Day; (2) a professional conference offering workshops and presentations focusing on interpretation and translation, opportunities for discussion, networking, career development, and celebration; and (3) an exciting series of student-oriented, translation-themed events held on weekdays throughout the academic year.

Friday evening, September 28, 2018: this year’s Confluence will open with “Translatable,” the annual Open Mic event in celebration of International Translation Day, hosted by the DC Area Literary Translators Network, on the Takoma Park / Silver Spring campus.

Stay tuned for more information about the series of student-oriented, translation-themed events we will be hosting on weekdays throughout the academic year on various campuses of Montgomery College.

Saturday, April 13, 2019, morning and afternoon: conference sessions will feature a variety of workshops and presentations on translation, interpretation, and translation studies. The day’s schedule will offer opportunities for informal networking. The Call for Proposals, with additional details, will begin to be circulated by early June 2018. Stay tuned!

Please note that our day-long Confluence conference (keynote, workshops, and presentations) this academic year will not be in September (unlike past years) but will instead take place in the spring of 2019.

Thanks to all who have presented, attended, or otherwise supported our Confluence translation conference in previous years.
